11 Unique Christmas Makeup Looks to Try

It’s time to figure out your Christmas makeup looks! Sometimes it’s fun to go outside of the box and wear something untraditional, and sometimes going classic feels just right.

The best part about makeup is self-expression and the ability to completely change it according to your mood.

Keep your holidays feeling good by wearing what YOU want. Here are some ideas that border on traditional but have a different edge.

Toned Down Christmas Makeup Looks

I don’t know about you, but I definitely do not like red and green together. I do like the idea of being festive though, and I love it when makeup can fit a theme.

If you want to rock the red and green Christmas makeup look without the harsh contrast, opt for green shades with blue undertones and red shades leaning more to the coral side.

These shades are much softer and complement more skin tones, and the results are beautiful.

Classic Red Lipstick and Dramatic Eyeliner

There can’t be Christmas without red lips, and they pop even more when paired with dramatically lined eyes.

Soft brown eyeshadows look gorgeous with this look. It complements the red beautifully without taking the focus away from the red.

You can also use a lighter color and a darker color together to create dramatic shadows in the crease. Choose a shade that matches your skin tone for the main part of the lid. The darker the color you choose for the crease, the more of a dramatic effect it will have.

If you don’t want to use black eyeshadow, you can replace that with a dark brown or a soft brown. Add some faux lashes if that’s your thing and you’re good to go.

The Natural Look

Everybody loves the “no makeup” makeup look for its simplicity and beauty. Crazy colors can be fun but sometimes it’s nice to use neutral colors to accentuate your natural beauty.

Look for a shade of lipstick that is only a shade or 2 darker than your natural lip color. Do the same for your eyeshadow. Soft browns and nude shades will work well.

To keep it more natural looking, I would stay away from shimmery lipstick but if you must, a neutral bronze shade close to the natural color of your lips with just a slight shimmer to it will look very pretty as well.

You can still wear foundation and even do your contouring thing if you want to, as long as it looks so subtle you can’t notice it.

Be careful with blush as it can easily be over-applied for this look. You just want your cheeks to have a very faint touch of color.

Keep eyeliner to a minimum or skip it altogether and add very little mascara – just enough to slightly darken your lashes.

Santa hat optional.

Unconventionally Traditional

Would it be going too far if instead of just red lips, red eyeshadow became a thing too?

I mean, maybe it’s just me because red is my favorite color, but I am loving this red all over look.

There’s something so unique and modern about red eyeshadow. This would be an especially fun Christmas makeup look to try if you like the way different shades of red look with your skin tone.

If you have brown eyes, this may be a really good option for you as they look especially pretty with red eyeshadow.

And if you want to try something interesting, create a look with both red eyeliner and red eyeshadow. You can wear the cat eye look with the eyeliner and add a dot underneath each eye.

Not only does this look unique, but there’s something about it that really makes the eyes look beautiful. The dots just accentuate them in a very flattering way.

Experiment with different reds as some will be much brighter than others and you may not love certain reds with your skin tone. Everyone looks good in a different red depending on their undertones.

If you have warm undertones in your skin, you should stick with warm reds, and with cool undertones use cooler blue-toned reds.

Finish with a nude lipstick to keep the focus on your beautiful eyeshadow.

The Greens

Red is a no brainer at Christmas time and although we know green is half of the equation, our makeup doesn’t usually reflect that. Be bold with green eyeshadows and lipsticks.

Would you dare wear a grinchy green lipstick? If you are tired of the same old boring makeup, this would be the way to level up the funk. Nothing boring about this!

Talk about a conversation starter.

And if you really wanna get crazy, go to your manicurist and ask for some matching green nails.

It is almost guaranteed that you won’t have to worry about looking the same as anyone else at your holiday parties.

Or how about a little bling? You can buy face gems to add to the look. Find some green ones and pair them with a beautiful green shade of eye shadow. Place them in a cute design and you are blinged out and beautiful, ready to celebrate the holidays.

If you think it’s too much to go full out green, you can make the look more subtle by going for a green eyeshadow that is closer to neutral tones and just adding a touch of it in the corners and creases.

For the base use either a lighter green, a cream-colored shimmer, or even a frosty white. Blend until you have your desired effect which should be something like a green tinted smokey eye look. You can even add some black eyeshadow onto the outer corners.

Christmas is one of the most fun times of year, aside from the stressful parts. Make sure you still find the time to take care of yourself and make yourself happy.

If makeup does that for you, which I assume it does if you’ve read this far, then make sure you find a look you love and rock it the way only you can this Christmas.

Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy holiday season!

Hope you get lots of makeup!
