New Year’s is that time of year when a lot of us want the most sparkly, shimmery nails we could possibly have.
Not much nail art is needed when you have beautiful shades of glitter and shimmer nail polish and you change up the ways you wear them.

Glitter Goddess
If you’re a glitter goddess, New Year’s must be the perfect time of year for you with so many pretty glitter nail polishes to choose from.
There are so many gorgeous shades of gold that are perfect for New Year’s, as well as beautiful bronzes, pretty oranges, and dazzling pinks.
Mix them together or wear them alone. Match your outfit or have your nails be the pop of color with a black outfit.
If you want to go for a classic New Year’s Manicure, you can’t go wrong with silver glitter nails. Find the blingiest glitter polish you could find and coat the entirety of your nails with it.
Use 2-3 coats for maximum coverage. If your glitter doesn’t entirely cover your nail with that, try finding a silver chrome nail polish to wear underneath. It will look even shinier and eye-catching and really make your glitter pop.
If full out glitter nails are too much for you, you can try just painting a couple of your nails with the glitter and painting the others black, or any color you see fit.
This look is pretty because it has the glitz and glam side of New Year’s as well as the edgy trendy side.
Rocking this goth glam look will have you feeling ready for the New Year.
Want to stay more on the simple side? Instead of painting the entire nail in glitter, just paint the tips. A glitter French mani is perfect for any fancy occasion, especially New Years.
Minimalistic manicures have such a charm to them because they are subtle but yet artistic and expressive.
You can still have your flair without feeling like you are screaming it to the world.
In the same minimalistic fashion, you can paint one nail with glitter and the rest the color of your choice.
Gold and pink look especially pretty together. There is something very soft and feminine about it. It gives a much different vibe than the silver glitter and black manicure.
Choose the color combos that express who you are or how you feel at the moment. Have fun creating different vibes.
Want more of a funky glitter look? Use black nail polish as a base and paint chunky silver glitter polish over it that does not cover the entire nail. Finish with matte top coat.

Holographic nail polish is the ultimate New Year’s nail look, in my opinion anyway.
It’s sparkly, shimmery, and the color effects are so many nail polish lover’s dream come true.
If you want to get fancy for New Year’s, you can do a gradient effect so the holo is the strongest on your tips and fades on the way down.
Or you can pair some holo with some silver glitter and rock some disco ball nails!
Stroke of Midnight
If you want to go all out, paint a clock on your nails (or ask your manicurist to do it for you). You can use either regular numbers or Roman numerals, and the results are super cute!
You can add glitter, add the year, maybe some fireworks, whatever gives you New Year’s vibes.
This is one of my own looks. My favorite things to paint for New Year’s nail designs are always a champagne bottle, champagne or wine glasses, and now the clocks that are trending on social media.
To paint the champagne bottle:
- Using green, paint the body and neck of the bottle
- Add some gold to the top of the bottleneck, the more glittery the better
- Paint a white rectangle of the main part of the bottle for the label
- With a very fine detail brush and black nail polish, paint 2 lines going across the top and bottom of the label and some light squiggles between those to look like words
The glasses are pretty easy to paint. Just paint a U shape with a slight point on the bottom. Close the top with a line and paint a line for the stem and base.
Bubbles are optional but can be done with a nail dotting tool, bobby pin, or even better – rhinestones.
The clock was a bit more challenging when it came to the Roman Numerals, which are painted over the white and gold clock background.
New Year’s nail designs are so fun. So much glitter and so many party vibes, even if the party is coming from the tv.
