Daisy nail art is so beautiful, and you can learn how to do it on your own. With this daisy nail art tutorial, you will be able to paint daisies on your nails and style your own looks.
Painting daisies is probably simpler than you think. Petals can be painted as dots in a circular pattern with a different color dot in the center.
There are tools that can make this process super easy. You can also make it more advanced by using certain nail art brushes to achieve specific looks, changing up colors and petal sizes.
Supplies Needed to Create Daisy Nail Art
They have something called a dotting tool that you can buy that’s perfect for daisy nail art.
It looks like a wood or plastic stick with thin metal sticks on either side with tiny balls at the tips of it.
It’s used in many nail designs and can be found in most beauty supply stores.
The tips come in different sizes from small to large, so you will be able to have different petal sizes depending on which dotter you buy.
If you don’t have a dotting tool, you can always just use a toothpick or a bobby pin.
Bobby pins will most likely give you bigger petal sizes than a toothpick would since the tips are larger than toothpick tips, but whatever you have on hand will work.
I like to use acrylic paint, which you can buy at any craft store. It’s very inexpensive.
Now they even have acrylic paint pens for nail art which makes it super easy to just draw on your design.
If you don’t want to use that, you can use regular nail polish.
It’s easier to do nail art with acrylic paint because it doesn’t dry as fast as polish, allowing you more wiggle room with the design, but for the purpose of this design, regular nail polish should work just fine.
And if you want to get a little fancy, paint a tiny line from the center of the petal in the color of the nail polish you’re wearing.
Step 1
Plan out your look first and then paint your nails in the color scheme of your choice. For ideas, see below.
Step 2
Dip the dotting tool into white acrylic paint. You want enough paint on it to completely cover the tip.
For bigger petals, use more paint on the tip.
If you want smaller petals, touch the tip with paint to paper one or 2 times to get rid of any excess paint.
If you want longer petals, you will have to use a tiny nail art brush instead.
Step 3
Make 5 dots in a circle anywhere on the nails and let them dry.
Once they are, put a dot in the center.
When you place your dots, you don’t need to press down so hard.
If you do, you will have a strange looking indent in your design.
Step 4
Let everything dry fully and then apply top coat.
Be sure you don’t do this until it is completely dry, or you will ruin your design.
It can easily smudge this way. Even when it’s dry you need to still be careful because it can wet the design again, making it easy to smudge again.
Keep your brush strokes light and quick and you should be fine.
It’s so frustrating when you do beautiful work and then drag it down the nail with the top coat brush.
I mean, so I hear anyway. I haven’t done that 7200 times or anything. 😉
So, that’s it! Easy, right? Keep reading for some inspiration for some cool daisy nail art designs.
Daisy Nail Design Ideas
You can put your own flare and style into your daisy nail designs.
Get creative with the colors and placement.
Put them over clear nails or over color, change which nails you do it on, make the petals different sizes, or anything that suits you.
You can paint all your nails one color and add white daisies to different nails in different spots.
Changing placement changes the look entirely so be as creative as you wish.
Daisies also look amazing over clear nails.
Add white daises to each nail. This gives the nails a fresh, clean and cute look.
You could also do half and half, painting some nails a solid color and some nails clear, putting the daisy nail art over the clear nails.
It always looks cute if you leave the middle finger and ring finger clear with daisies over it that match the solid color on the other nails.
If you feel like it, change the color of the flowers.
Although the common daisy is white with a yellow center, you can use any colors you wish. If you need a pretty shade of yellow nail polish to wear, you can check out my nail polish line here.
Make all different color flowers all over your nails.
Multi-colored flowers painted over clear nails would look super cute, as well as different colored flowers over a solid color that matches or compliments your flower colors.
If you want to get really crazy, you can give yourself a skittles mani and paint each nail a different color, adding different colored flowers over each or just a few.
Paint different sizes of flowers onto each nail or whatever makes you happy.
Paint a few flowers that hug the cuticle. That always looks pretty and clean looking.
Paint one or all nails half one color and half another color. Then paint flowers on one color only.
Yin Yang nails have been really popular lately.
Instead of putting circles on either side, paint flowers in their spots. It’s a super cute nail design look.
Change the size of the center dot. This will change the look of the flower.
A large dot in the center will result in smaller looking petals while a small dot leaves the petals looking more prominent.
Make a cool looking flower by using a large dotter first, and then dip the small dotter in a different color and put right over the bigger dot.
It gives the petals a cool outlined effect that would be hard to recreate with a nail art brush without a ton of practice.
Use a makeup sponge to create an ombre look. Swipe 2-3 colors onto the sponge and just dab it on the nails. Let it dry and do it again. Then paint flowers over this. Super pretty!
